Noindex Tag Checker & X-Robots-Tag HTTP Scanner

Scan a page for noindex in meta robots and googlebot tags and in the X-Robots-Tag HTTP header, with code to remove it.

Gives the HTML, server header and Next.js changes that lift a noindex.

How to use this tool

Finds out whether a page tells search engines not to index it. Use it when a page will not show up in Google, after a staging launch, or before you ship a template change.

  1. Enter a page URL and press Scan URL, or skip this and type values by hand.
  2. Check the robots meta, googlebot meta, X-Robots-Tag, canonical and HTTP status fields. Scanning fills them from the page, except the googlebot meta field.
  3. Edit any field to test a change, or use the two preset buttons to load a noindex leak or a clean setup.
  4. Read the verdict and the fix suggestions, then press Copy Full Patch.

What it checks

Questions

Where can a noindex directive hide?

It can sit in a robots meta tag, a googlebot meta tag, or an X-Robots-Tag HTTP header. The header is easy to miss because it never appears in the page source. This tool reads all three.

Does it change my site?

No. It shows the code you would change and lets you copy it. You apply the fix in your own template or server config.

Can I test a fix before deploying?

Yes. Change the fields and the verdict updates in your browser at once.
