URL indexing services, compared with Google's own words
Last updated
The indexing market sells one thing: a resubmission. The pay-per-URL services keep the method secret and refund in credits; the monthly ones take Owner access to your Search Console and push through Google's Indexing API at exactly its 200-a-day quota; the honest ones monitor. The table reads each vendor's own pages on 2026-11-06; the second table is Google, dated. Full study: the research is summarised in our documentation. What RankWhy does with the same problem
- Index Watch: Google's URL Inspection API on your own property, read in your browser with a read-only token, 2,000 URLs a day, free. Every reading is kept, so you see when a URL entered the index and whether it is still there after 30 and 90 days. Try it without an account: Google Index Checker.
- Why not indexed: the causes per URL with evidence and the fix Google documents (no-index, robots.txt, redirect, canonical, thin or duplicate text, another page already ranking for its words, no internal link, slow server), filed as tasks. One credit per fifty URLs.
- Submit honestly: IndexNow on your own key, a sitemap audit against Google's rules, your most-clicked pages as link sources, and the Request-indexing link per URL. No ping network, no vendor service account on your Search Console, no Indexing API for ordinary pages.
- The benchmark the market lacks: users who opt in share anonymised retention counts; the indexing benchmark prints every figure with its sample size and nothing below a hundred URLs.

Questions
Do indexing services work?
Nobody outside the vendors has measured it. The only published benchmark is a vendor's own, which names itself the winner at about half the URLs indexed after four weeks. Google says the Indexing API route is reserved for job postings and live videos and is watched for abuse; ping networks put your URL on low-quality pages. The reasons a page stays out are mostly visible: no-index, a canonical elsewhere, thin or duplicate text, no internal link, or another page already ranking for the same words.
What does RankWhy do instead?
Index Watch reads Google's URL Inspection API on your own Search Console property: indexed or not, the state, the last crawl, the canonical Google chose, and whether the URL is still indexed after 30 and 90 days. Why not indexed names the causes with evidence and files them as tasks. Submit honestly sends to IndexNow on your own key (Bing and the others; Google does not take it) and audits your sitemap. Nothing is submitted to Google for you.
Is the Indexing API ever the right tool?
Yes, for pages with JobPosting or BroadcastEvent structured data, on your own Cloud project, within the 200-a-day quota. For everything else Google says: sitemaps.
